January 31, 2026: NETRUZ Teacher-Research Celebration Event

Dear Colleagues,

NETRUZ is happy to celebrate the success of the NETRUZ 2025 teacher-research training course. We trained and mentored over 60 teachers on exploratory action research, one form of teacher-research, from mid-August 2025 till January
2026. 

We welcome you all to join us to celebrate the achievements of some teachers who completed their exploratory action research projects. You will learn about interesting research projects conducted by the teachers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. You can check the event programme HERE.

NETRUZ Teacher-Research and Mentor Training 2025

Dear teacher educators, school teachers, teacher trainers and student-teachers,

NETRUZ: Network of English Teacher Researchers in Uzbekistan is pleased to announce the next online training for teacher educators who teach future English language teachers in Uzbekistan. We also welcome school teachers who are involved in mentoring novice teachers or student-teachers during their teaching practice (practicum).

The purpose of this training is to train future mentors of teacher-research and integrate exploratory action research in pre-service teacher education programmes in the universities of Uzbekistan. We will expect a close collaboration with you to bring changes to the teacher education programmes.

If you are training future English language teachers and want to develop your collaborative and reflective learning through teacher-research, JOIN our training programme, which will start in mid-August 2025. 

The innovative training course consists of two parts: 

- Teacher-research mentor training

- EAR training in the areas of pre-service teacher education. You will collaboratively develop EAR projects with students and school teachers.

 

The course lasts several months, namely between mid-August and December 2025. The outcomes of your research projects can be presented at various conferences and published.

Future Teachers in Action: Undergraduate Students Share Their Research

Have you ever wondered when innovations in education work? 🤔

The answer lies in teacher ownership - Innovations thrive only when teachers unite and embrace them willingly. In other words, successful educational change is often bottom-up, initiated by teachers themselves.

In 2024-2025, a group of teacher educators from Namangan State University and Namangan Foreign Languages Institute and I came up with the idea of introducing undergraduate students to exploratory action research (EAR). As Richard Smith and Paula Rebolledo explain, EAR enables teachers to "gain a greater understanding of issues in their classrooms", "to explore and solve classroom problems for themselves", and develop solutions based on "practical experience, not literature". 

Why Should Future Teachers Learn EAR? 👀

Exploratory Action Research equips future teachers with essential skills for professional growth. It helps them

• build their confidence in teaching abilities, 
• feel empowered to experiment and refine teaching practices,
• develop critical reflection and problem-solving skills - must-have traits of modern, resilient teachers.  

On 29-30 March 2025, 26 students from Namangan Foreign Languages Institute and 4 students from Namangan State University presented their EAR projects in Teachers Research! 2025 online conference. Below, you can find their names and presentations (along with the links to their poster presentations):
